Total Transcription Solutions Inc. (TTSI), a Philippine offshore facility that provides high-quality medical transcription services to the US health-care market, recently launched e-Transcription Training Solutions and Innovations (e-TTSI) at the ballroom of Dusit Hotel Nikko.
The event, which was very well attended by representatives from around 100 schools and universities nationwide, was graced by Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) Commissioner Damian Dondi Mapa as the keynote speaker.
The demand for medical transcriptionists (MTs) continues to rise. In 2005 alone, 5,500 Filipino MTs were already employed. This year, it is projected that 8,300 more will be hired and given job opportunities either as transcriptionists, editors, or trainers, Mapa says. However, not everybody aspiring to a medical transcription job is qualified. And this is where, I think, the Philippines should position itself.
We need to strengthen our training systems and programs, adds Myla Rose Reyes, TTSI managing director and Medical Transcription Industry Association of the Philippines (MTIAPI) vice president.
e-TTSI is made up of three components: the MT Preparatory (MT Prep) course, an intensive 18-hour orientation course that provides students with a fundamental understanding of medical transcription and will help gauge their suitability to enter a formal MT training program; the Entry-Level MT Program (ELMT), an online curriculum that readies students for entry-level employment as MTs in the industry; and the MT Tutor Online (MTTO), providing unlimited access to simulated doctor-dictated reports that enable users to practice their skills in near-authentic work environments as often as they want, anytime, anywhere.
The MTTO prepaid cards are available in P100 denominations for those who want to enhance their MT skills.
TTSI provides schools all the tools needed for an easy and comprehensive implementation of e-TTSI such as complete TESDA-approved curriculum, direct installation onto school server or accessed through standard web browser, program featuring administrator module for the trainer and online curriculum template ensuring correct program roll-out and maintaining quality of learning.
